Your brand is what other people say about you when you’re not in the room.
I don’t care what other people think about me and they can really say what they want, but they don’t know me so it doesn’t really matter! This is a quote that I used to live by and I felt that it was right and I wasn’t concerned with who agreed or disagreed. Now, of course maturity has lead me on a different path, but also I am trying very hard to build a brand. And I have now come to understand that in order to do so, I have to build my name.
My goal is not to just build any type of brand, but I want to build something that people are inspired by. I want people to know me for the things that I have done and the positive words that I have spoken, not only spoken, but put into action. I am not striving to build a silent brand, but a VERY LOUD one, therefore I must take different steps.
It took me a while to accept the fact that without a crowd my goal could not be attained. I had to learn and teach myself to care about what other people thought. And just as the quote I started with, I wanted to make sure that people would be able to say good things about me, my energy, and my spirit. I want to be sure that when I walk in a room there is nothing but positive vibes and good energy.
Now, is that to say that there will not be haters or people who simply want to see you fail? Not at all, you will have those types of people, but they are only here to make you work harder. Their words and thoughts are needed as well because they provide you with a great push, that’s only if you take opposition well. I have always been the kind of person to do exactly what the next man said I couldn’t. And whereas that is a good source of drive, don’t always strive for that, but do what it is that satisfies your heart, hopes, and dreams! Make your wants count!
Build your face card, it means to make a name for yourself out here in these streets. Get a reputation, but make sure it’s one that you can uphold and that you’re willing to put the work into. When people speak your name, work until your pleased with the comments left behind! Encourage one another and be sure that you always treat people the same way you would want them to treat you!
Challenge: This week choose someone to encourage, by sending a letter, gift, or even just reposting and letting them know how much their work is helping you!
Your face card should always trump all the others in the deck, but it will always be a low two if you don’t recognize its value.
